Seattle Sounders Football Club is a professional American football club based in Seattle, United States. The Seattle Sounders compete in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). The club was founded on November 13, 2007 and started in Major League Soccer in 2009. The Sounders play their home games at the Lumen Field and has a capacity of nearly 38,000 seats. During the home games, a 53-member marching band called “Sound Wave” supports the club. Some well-known players in club history include Clint Dempsey, Fredy Montero and Nicolas Lodeiro.
The Seattle Sounders played their first game on March 19, 2009 against New York Red Bulls. This game was won 3-0. Seattle is one of the most successful teams in the league. It won the US Open Cup four times, the Supporters Shield in 2014, and the MLS Cup in 2016 and 2019. From the start of the MLS until 2022, the team qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs - the longest record in the history of the competition - and participated in the CONCACAF Champions League six times, becoming the first MLS team to win the modern version of the competition in 2022. The team established a new MLS record for average attendance in each of the first five seasons.
Seattle Sounders Shirt
Like every other team in the MLS, the Seattle Sounders shirt was designed by adidas. The official team colors are Sounder Blue, which means the waters of the Puget Sound; Rave Green, which represents the forests of the Pacific Northwest. The club logo looks like a heraldic shield and consists of two layers that represent “the collaboration between owners, community, players and fans”. The logo includes the Space Needle, an internationally recognized landmark in Seattle.
